Lawrence Free State Firebirds (Lawrence, KS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Manhattan Indians (Manhattan, KS), 4-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Firebirds now own a 18-4 record.

With the loss, Manhattan falls to 8-11 on the campaign. The Indians travel to North (Wichita, KS) to battle the RedHawks in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 15. The RedHawks enter the challenge with a record of 11-15. North won 6-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Life Prep (Park City, KS)
