The Laurel Spartans (New Castle, PA) baseball got by the host Fort Cherry Rangers (McDonald, PA), 4-3 in Thursday's non-league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 10-10 record. They take the field next when they travel to Shenango for a non-league challenge on Monday, May 19. Laurel will clash with a Wildcats team coming off a 1-0 non-league win over Chartiers-Houston (Houston, PA). The Wildcats record now stands at 15-5.

With the defeat, Fort Cherry drops to 13-7 on the year.
