D.C. Everest Evergreens (Schofield, WI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Wausau East Lumberjacks (Wausau, WI), 9-5 in a league challenge.

The Evergreens now own a 16-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Oregon for a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 18. D.C. Everest will battle a Panthers squad coming off a 10-6 league loss to Beaver Dam (Beaver Dam, WI). The Panthers record now stands at 15-8.

With the loss, Wausau East falls to 6-14 on the campaign. The Lumberjacks host Marshfield (Marshfield, WI) to battle the Tigers in a Wisconsin Valley challenge on Friday, May 17. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 12-15. Marshfield won 2-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Shawano Community (Shawano, WI)
