Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains (Bascom, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Gibsonburg Golden Bears (Gibsonburg, OH), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Chieftains now own a 21-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Lakota for a Sandusky Bay - River challenge on Wednesday, May 18.

With the loss, Gibsonburg falls to 2-6 on the campaign. The Golden bears host New Riegel (New Riegel, OH) to battle the Blue Jackets in a Sandusky Bay - River challenge on Thursday, May 19. The Blue Jackets enter the challenge with a record of 17-11. New Riegel lost 4-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Calvert (Tiffin, OH)
