Nonnewaug Chiefs (Woodbury, CT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Northwestern Regional Highlanders (Winsted, CT), 14-11 in a league challenge.

The Chiefs now own a 15-5 record. They take the field next when they host Thomaston for a Berkshire challenge on Monday, May 22. Nonnewaug will face a Bears squad coming off a 20-5 league win over Gilbert (Winsted, CT). The Bears record now stands at 11-7.

With the loss, Northwestern Regional falls to 12-6 on the campaign. The Highlanders travel to Wamogo Regional (Litchfield, CT) to face the Warriors in a Berkshire challenge on Thursday, May 18. The Warriors enter the challenge with a record of 3-11. Wamogo Regional lost 12-0 in their recent league challenge against Shepaug Valley (Washington, CT)
