George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the visiting Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA), 3-2 in a league test.

With the win, George Wythe upgrades its record to 9-8 on the season. The Maroons travel to Grayson County (Independence, VA) to battle the Blue Devils in a Mountain Empire test on Friday, May 19. The Blue Devils come into the test with a record of 13-8. Grayson County won 10-2 in their recent league test against Giles (Pearisburg, VA)

With the defeat, Fort Chiswell falls to 4-12 on the season.
