Dakota Cougars (Macomb, MI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Sunday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Walled Lake Northern Knights (Commerce, MI), 5-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 24-4 record. They take the field next when they host Anchor Bay for a Macomb Area - Red challenge on Tuesday, May 21. Dakota will face a Tars squad coming off a 4-1 non-league loss to South Lyon East (South Lyon, MI). The Tars record now stands at 13-14.

With the loss, Walled Lake Northern falls to 18-5 on the campaign. The Knights travel to Trenton (Trenton, MI) to face the Trojans in a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 23. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 18-9. Trenton lost 15-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Grand Blanc (Grand Blanc, MI)
