North Star Cougars (Boswell, PA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Blacklick Valley Vikings (Nanty Glo, PA), 6-4 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now sport a 2-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Berlin Brothersvalley for a non-league challenge on Monday, May 8. North Star will face a Mountaineers squad coming off a 11-1 league loss to Meyersdale (Meyersdale, PA). The Mountaineers record now stands at 7-3.

With the loss, Blacklick Valley falls to 2-11 on the campaign. The Vikings travel to Rockwood (Rockwood, PA) to face the Rockets in a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 4. The Rockets enter the challenge with a record of 2-10. Rockwood lost 17-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Clearfield (Clearfield, PA)
