Mecklenburg County Phoenix (Baskerville, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Magna Vista Warriors (Ridgeway, VA), 9-3 in a league challenge.

The Phoenix now own a 5-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to Patrick County for a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 6. Mecklenburg County will battle a Cougars squad coming off a 12-0 league loss to Halifax County (South Boston, VA). The Cougars record now stands at 9-6.

With the loss, Magna Vista falls to 3-12 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to Tunstall (Dry Fork, VA) to battle the Trojans in a Piedmont challenge on Friday, May 5. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 9-7. Tunstall lost 14-8 in their recent league challenge against Bassett (Bassett, VA)
