St. Bede Bruins (Peru, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Newman Central Catholic Comets (Sterling, IL), 10-6 in a league challenge.

The Bruins now sport a 18-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Bureau Valley for a Three Rivers East challenge on Thursday, May 4. St. Bede will face a Storm squad coming off a 3-2 league loss to St. Bede (Peru, IL). The Storm record now stands at 11-10.

With the loss, Newman Central Catholic falls to 10-9 on the campaign. The Comets travel to West Carroll (Savanna, IL) to face the Thunder in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 3. The Thunder enter the challenge with a record of 1-19. West Carroll lost 8-5 in their recent league challenge against River Ridge/Scales Mound (Hanover, IL)
