South Laurel Cardinals (London, KY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Clay County Tigers (Manchester, KY), 9-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Cardinals now own a 19-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Rockcastle County for a non-league challenge on Friday, May 3. South Laurel will battle a Rockets squad coming off a 6-2 non-league win over McCreary Central (Stearns, KY). The Rockets record now stands at 7-22.

With the loss, Clay County falls to 11-15 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Middlesboro (Middlesboro, KY) to battle the Yellowjackets in a non-league challenge on Monday, May 6. The Yellowjackets enter the challenge with a record of 10-9. Middlesboro won 13-3 in their recent league challenge against Harlan (Harlan, KY)
