Limestone Rockets (Bartonville, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Washington Panthers (Washington, IL), 6-5 in a league challenge.

The Rockets now own a 7-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to Canton for a Mid-Illini challenge on Monday, May 6. Limestone will face a Little Giants squad coming off a 9-2 non-league loss to Illinois Valley Central (Chillicothe, IL). The Little Giants record now stands at 7-14.

With the loss, Washington falls to 9-11 on the campaign. The Panthers host Edwardsville (Edwardsville, IL) to face the Tigers in a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 4. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 17-5. Edwardsville won 10-0 in their recent league challenge against Alton (Alton, IL)
