Hampden Broncos (Hampden, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Hermon Hawks (Hermon, ME), 9-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Broncos now own a 8-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Mt. Blue for a Class A North challenge on Monday, May 23. Hampden will battle a Cougars squad coming off a 10-3 non-league loss to Leavitt (Turner, ME). The Cougars record now stands at 0-12.

With the defeat, Hermon drops to 3-5 on the year. The Hawks host Nokomis (Newport, ME) to clash with the Warriors in a Class B North game on Tuesday, May 24. The Warriors come into the game with a record of 4-1.
