The crowd at Wednesday's league match between the Saydel Eagles (Des Moines, IA) and the host Nevada Cubs (Nevada, IA), saw Saydel's softball squad nip Nevada by a count of 9-8.

The Eagles now sport a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they host Prairie City-Monroe for a Heart of Iowa match on Friday, May 24. Saydel will face a Mustangs squad coming off a 9-5 non-league loss to Pella (Pella, IA). The Mustangs record now stands at 2-1.

With the loss, Nevada falls to 0-2 on the campaign. The Cubs travel to West Marshall (State Center, IA) to face the Trojans in a Heart of Iowa match on Friday, May 24. The Trojans enter the match with a record of 2-1. West Marshall won 6-4 in their recent non-league match against Grand View Christian (Des Moines, IA)
