Houghton Gremlins (Houghton, MI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Ishpeming Hematites (Ishpeming, MI), 4-3 in a league challenge.

The Gremlins now own a 3-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Ishpeming for a Mid-Peninsula challenge on Tuesday, May 24. Houghton will battle a Hematites squad coming off a 6-0 non-league loss to Negaunee (Negaunee, MI). The Hematites record now stands at 15-9.

With the loss, Ishpeming falls to 16-10 on the campaign. The Hematites host Houghton (Houghton, MI) to battle the Gremlins in a Western Peninsula challenge on Tuesday, May 24.
