Katahdin Cougars (Sherman Station, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Fort Fairfield Tigers (Fort Fairfield, ME), 12-1 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 5-8 record. They take the field next when they host Ashland for a Class D North challenge on Tuesday, May 30. Katahdin will battle a Hornets squad coming off a 12-10 league loss to Southern Aroostook (Dyer Brook, ME). The Hornets record now stands at 9-4.

With the loss, Fort Fairfield falls to 0-12 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Hodgdon (Hodgdon, ME) to battle the Hawks in a Class D North challenge on Friday, May 26. The Hawks enter the challenge with a record of 11-1. Hodgdon won 14-3 in their recent league challenge against Central Aroostook (Mars Hill, ME)
