Woonsocket Villa Novans (Woonsocket, RI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Cranston East Thunderbolts (Cranston, RI), 8-6 in a league challenge.

The Villa Novans now own a 3-16 record. They take the field next when they host Mount St. Charles Academy for a Division 2 B challenge on Saturday, May 28. Woonsocket will face a Mounties squad coming off a 7-1 league loss to North Providence (North Providence, RI). The Mounties record now stands at 3-15.

With the loss, Cranston East falls to 0-17 on the campaign. The Thunderbolts travel to Toll Gate (Warwick, RI) to face the Titans in a Division 2 B challenge on Friday, May 27. The Titans enter the challenge with a record of 15-4. Toll Gate lost 5-3 in their recent league challenge against Johnston (Johnston, RI)
