Lakeland Cavaliers (Suffolk, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Hopewell Blue Devils (Hopewell, VA), 5-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Cavaliers now own a 2-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to New Kent for a non-league challenge on Friday, May 27. Lakeland will battle a Trojans squad coming off a 6-5 league win over Smithfield (Smithfield, VA). The Trojans record now stands at 18-1.

With the loss, Hopewell falls to 4-12 on the campaign.
