Ashland Hornets (Ashland, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Fort Kent Warriors (Fort Kent, ME), 13-9 in a non-league challenge.

The Hornets now own a 4-7 record. They take the field next when they host Southern Aroostook for a Class D North challenge on Tuesday, May 31. Ashland will battle a Warriors squad coming off a 25-4 league win over Fort Fairfield (Fort Fairfield, ME). The Warriors record now stands at 8-2.

With the loss, Fort Kent falls to 5-5 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to Wisdom (St. Agatha, ME) to battle the Pioneers in a non-league challenge on Monday, May 30. The Pioneers enter the challenge with a record of 9-0. Wisdom won 4-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Katahdin (Sherman Station, ME)
