Game Summary
CARDINALS DROP CHAMPIONSHIP OPENER
TO STORM
Tuesday, May 28, 2024 – La Salle\s quest for their first baseball championship to a hit literally yesterday as the fell 1-18 against top-seeded St John’s Prep at ICYP in Queens but their dreams are still alive as the move into the elimination bracket of the CHSAA Varsity Baseball Intersectional A Division 2024 Double Elimination Championship Tournament.
The actual game was closer than the score indicates but Prep posted a nine spot in the first inning and never looked back. La Salle got on the board (for the first time in two games against SJP) in the top of the third, as Kerick Tejada delivered a classic hit and run single through the vacated second base position, with Ryan Gallaher (1 for 2) on the move. The subsequent overthrow from Prep’s right fielder allowed Gallaher to score and Tejada to advance to third base but that is where the Cardinals Day ended.
