The Charles City Comets edged the host Clear Lake Lions softball squad by a count of 7-6 in Thursday's non-league challenge.
Next, the Comets meet the Cedar Falls Tigers (Cedar Falls, IA) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, May 30. Charles City will attempt to upgrade on its 2-0 season record. The Tigers enter the challenge with a 4-0 record after their 14-2 non-league win over Iowa City West (Iowa City, IA).
The Lions (1-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Hampton-Dumont/CAL (Hampton, IA). The enter the North Central challenge with a 1-0 record. In their last challenge, Hampton-Dumont/CAL edged Nashua-Plainfield (Nashua, IA), 2-0, in a non-league challenge.
