Mount St. Mary Academy Lions (Watchung, NJ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting North Plainfield Canucks (North Plainfield, NJ), 5-4 in a league challenge.

The Lions now own a 5-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to Roselle Catholic for a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 5. Mount St. Mary Academy will face a Lions squad coming off a 20-1 non-league loss to Rahway (Rahway, NJ). The Lions record now stands at 0-3.

With the loss, North Plainfield falls to 2-5 on the campaign. The Canucks host Bound Brook (Bound Brook, NJ) to face the Crusaders in a Skyland - Valley match on Thursday, May 5. The Crusaders enter the match with a record of 2-5. Bound Brook won 15-1 in their recent non-league match against Rutgers Prep (Somerset, NJ)
