The Gretna Hawks (Gretna, VA) softball nipped the visiting Altavista Colonels (Altavista, VA), 8-7 in Wednesday's league bout.

The Hawks (3-9) will now prepare for their bout against Chatham (Chatham, VA). The Cavaliers go into the Dogwood bout with a 7-5 record. In their last bout, Chatham was edged by Appomattox County (Appomattox, VA), 10-0, in a league bout.

The Colonels now possess a 2-10 record. They play next when they host William Campbell for a Dogwood bout on Friday, May 5. Altavista will confront a Generals squad coming off a 7-3 league loss to Gretna (Gretna, VA). The Generals record now stands at 3-9.
