East Syracuse-Minoa Spartans (East Syracuse, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Syracuse Cougars (Syracuse, NY), 10-7 in a league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 6-7 record. They take the field next when they host Oswego for a Section 3 Empire challenge on Monday, May 6. East Syracuse-Minoa will battle a Bucs squad coming off a 5-3 non-league loss to Jamesville-DeWitt (DeWitt, NY). The Bucs record now stands at 5-6.

With the loss, Syracuse falls to 0-4 on the campaign. The Cougars host Auburn (Auburn, NY) to battle the Maroons in a Section 3 Empire challenge on Wednesday, May 8. The Maroons enter the challenge with a record of 6-2.
