La Costa Canyon Mavericks (Carlsbad, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host El Camino Wildcats (Oceanside, CA), 8-1 in a league challenge.

The Mavericks now own a 19-7 record. They take the field next when they host Rancho Buena Vista for a Coastal North County challenge on Wednesday, May 8. La Costa Canyon will battle a Longhorns squad coming off a 6-5 league loss to Torrey Pines (San Diego, CA). The Longhorns record now stands at 12-10.

With the loss, El Camino falls to 9-17 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Torrey Pines (San Diego, CA) to battle the Falcons in a Coastal North County challenge on Tuesday, May 7. The Falcons enter the challenge with a record of 19-4. Torrey Pines won 6-5 in their recent league challenge against Rancho Buena Vista (Vista, CA)
