The crowd at Friday's league match between the Onalaska Hilltoppers (Onalaska, WI) and the host Sparta Spartans (Sparta, WI), saw Onalaska's softball squad nip Sparta by a count of 9-4.

The Hilltoppers now sport a 5-9 record. They take the field next when they host Tomah for a Mississippi Valley match on Thursday, May 9.

With the loss, Sparta falls to 2-9 on the campaign. The Spartans host Luther (Onalaska, WI) to face the Knights in a non-league match on Monday, May 6. The Knights enter the match with a record of 1-11. Luther lost 14-2 in their recent league match against Arcadia (Arcadia, WI)
