The Independence Mustangs (Independence, IA) baseball trounced the host Maquoketa Valley Wildcats (Delhi, IA), 24-9 in Friday's non-league challenge.
The Mustangs now own a 4-2 record. They take the field next when they host Solon for a WaMaC-East challenge on Monday, June 2. Independence will clash with a Spartans team coming off a 6-4 non-league win over Iowa City West (Iowa City, IA). The Spartans record now stands at 4-3.
With the defeat, Maquoketa Valley drops to 3-2 on the year. The Wildcats host Central City (Central City, IA) to clash with the Wildcats in a Tri-Rivers - West challenge on Monday, June 2. The Wildcats go into the challenge with a record of 0-0.
