Hiwassee Dam Eagles (Murphy, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Cherokee Braves (Cherokee, NC), 9-2 in a league challenge.

The Eagles now own a 12-5 record. They take the field next when they host Robbinsville for a Smoky Mountain 1A challenge on Saturday, May 6. Hiwassee Dam will battle a Black Knights squad coming off a 10-0 non-league win over Madison (Marshall, NC). The Black Knights record now stands at 16-4.

With the loss, Cherokee falls to 8-7 on the campaign.
