Menchville Monarchs (Newport News, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Gloucester Dukes (Gloucester, VA), 22-7 in a league challenge.

The Monarchs now own a 13-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Bethel for a Peninsula challenge on Tuesday, May 9. Menchville will battle a Bruins squad coming off a 13-1 league win over Woodside (Newport News, VA). The Bruins record now stands at 11-3.

With the loss, Gloucester falls to 12-4 on the campaign. The Dukes host Warwick (Newport News, VA) to battle the Raiders in a Peninsula challenge on Tuesday, May 9. The Raiders enter the challenge with a record of 10-5. Warwick won 13-0 in their recent league challenge against Heritage (Newport News, VA)
