Spectators at Thursday's league match between the Nansemond River Warriors (Suffolk, VA) and the host Lakeland Cavaliers (Suffolk, VA), witnessed Nansemond River's softball squad tip Lakeland by a count of 5-2.

The Warriors now sport a 11-2 record. They play next when they host King's Fork for a Southeastern match on Tuesday, May 9. Nansemond River will face a Bulldogs squad coming off a 12-0 league loss to Deep Creek (Chesapeake, VA). The Bulldogs record now stands at 3-9.

With the loss, Lakeland moves to 7-8 on the season. The Cavaliers host Hickory (Chesapeake, VA) to face the Hawks in a Southeastern match on Tuesday, May 9. The Hawks go into the match with a record of 13-4. Hickory won 4-1 in their recent non-league match against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy (Suffolk, VA)
