Pearl River Pirates (Pearl River, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Tappan Zee Dutchmen (Orangeburg, NY), 3-2 in a league challenge.

The Pirates now own a 10-4 record. They take the field next when they host Valhalla for a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 6. Pearl River will face a Vikings squad coming off a 3-0 league win over Briarcliff (Briarcliff Manor, NY). The Vikings record now stands at 11-5.

With the loss, Tappan Zee falls to 13-2 on the campaign. The Dutchmen travel to Somers (Lincolndale, NY) to face the Tuskers in a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 6. The Tuskers enter the challenge with a record of 9-3. Somers lost 6-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Fox Lane (Bedford, NY)
