Canton Chiefs (Canton, MI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Milford Mavericks (Highland, MI), 3-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Chiefs now own a 10-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Howell for a Kensington Lakes - West challenge on Monday, May 6. Canton will battle a Highlanders squad coming off a 4-2 league win over Plymouth (Canton, MI). The Highlanders record now stands at 8-7.

With the loss, Milford falls to 3-9 on the campaign. The Mavericks host Walled Lake Northern (Commerce, MI) to battle the Knights in a Lakes Valley challenge on Tuesday, May 7. The Knights enter the challenge with a record of 8-2.
