Mattoon Greenwave (Mattoon, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs (Mahomet, IL), 9-4 in a league challenge.

The Greenwave now own a 8-12 record. They take the field next when they host Cumberland for a non-league challenge on Monday, May 6. Mattoon will face a Pirates squad coming off a 12-1 league win over Cerro Gordo/Bement (Cerro Gordo, IL). The Pirates record now stands at 9-13.

With the loss, Mahomet-Seymour falls to 5-16 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Monticello (Monticello, IL) to face the Sages in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, May 7. The Sages enter the challenge with a record of 16-12. Monticello won 16-1 in their recent league challenge against Rantoul (Rantoul, IL)
