Amherst County Lancers (Amherst, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Rustburg Red Devils (Rustburg, VA), 7-1 in a league challenge.

The Lancers now own a 15-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Brookville for a Seminole challenge on Tuesday, May 9. Amherst County will battle a Bees squad coming off a 4-3 league loss to Liberty (Bedford, VA). The Bees record now stands at 6-7.

With the loss, Rustburg falls to 7-5 on the campaign. The Red devils host Randolph-Henry (Charlotte Court House, VA) to battle the Statesmen in a non-league challenge on Monday, May 8. The Statesmen enter the challenge with a record of 14-1. Randolph-Henry won 3-1 in their recent league challenge against Buckingham (Buckingham, VA)
