Smithfield Packers (Smithfield, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Lafayette Rams (Williamsburg, VA), 7-2 in a league challenge.

The Packers now own a 10-6 record. They take the field next when they host Grafton for a Bay Rivers challenge on Monday, May 8. Smithfield will battle a Clippers squad coming off a 6-1 league loss to New Kent (New Kent, VA). The Clippers record now stands at 11-4.

With the loss, Lafayette falls to 1-15 on the campaign. The Rams travel to York (Yorktown, VA) to battle the Falcons in a Bay Rivers challenge on Monday, May 8. The Falcons enter the challenge with a record of 10-4. York won 4-2 in their recent league challenge against Warhill (Williamsburg, VA)
