Simsbury Trojans (Simsbury, CT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Northwest Catholic Lions (West Hartford, CT), 5-1 in a league challenge.

The Trojans now own a 5-6 record. They take the field next when they host Lewis Mills for a non-league challenge on Monday, May 8. Simsbury will battle a Spartans squad coming off a 15-1 non-league win over Bloomfield (Bloomfield, CT). The Spartans record now stands at 6-6.

With the loss, Northwest Catholic falls to 2-11 on the campaign. The Lions host East Hartford (East Hartford, CT) to battle the Hornets in a non-league challenge on Monday, May 8. The Hornets enter the challenge with a record of 2-10. East Hartford lost 10-2 in their recent non-league outing against Wethersfield (Wethersfield, CT)
