Andrean Fighting 59ers (Merrillville, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Valparaiso Vikings (Valparaiso, IN), 16-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Fighting 59ers now own a 17-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Highland for a Northwest Crossroads challenge on Monday, May 8. Andrean will battle a Trojans squad coming off a 11-4 non-league win over Hammond Bishop Noll (Hammond, IN). The Trojans record now stands at 14-6.

With the loss, Valparaiso falls to 4-13 on the campaign. The Vikings travel to Chesterton (Chesterton, IN) to battle the Trojans in a Duneland challenge on Tuesday, May 9. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 4-12. Chesterton lost 10-2 in their recent league challenge against Portage (Portage, IN)
