Spruce Mountain Phoenix (Jay, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Oak Hill Raiders (Sabattus, ME), 7-6 in a league challenge.

The Phoenix now own a 5-1 record. They take the field next when they host Dirigo for a Class C South challenge on Monday, May 8. Spruce Mountain will face a Cougars squad coming off a 5-0 league win over Mount Abram (Strong, ME). The Cougars record now stands at 3-1.

With the loss, Oak Hill falls to 2-3 on the campaign. The Raiders travel to Hall-Dale (Farmingdale, ME) to face the Bulldogs in a Class C South challenge on Monday, May 8. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 5-0. Hall-Dale won 13-1 in their recent league challenge against Mountain Valley (Rumford, ME)
