Ellsworth Eagles (Ellsworth, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Mount Desert Island Trojans (Mount Desert, ME), 7-0 in a league challenge.

The Eagles now own a 5-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Hermon for a Class B North challenge on Wednesday, May 8. Ellsworth will battle a Hawks squad coming off a 5-0 league win over Old Town (Old Town, ME). The Hawks record now stands at 6-2.

With the loss, Mount Desert Island falls to 3-3 on the campaign. The Trojans travel to John Bapst Memorial (Bangor, ME) to battle the Crusaders in a Class B North challenge on Wednesday, May 8. The Crusaders enter the challenge with a record of 1-6. John Bapst Memorial lost 14-3 in their recent league challenge against Old Town (Old Town, ME)
