South Portland Red Riots (South Portland, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Portland Bulldogs (Portland, ME), 6-5 in a league challenge.

The Red Riots now own a 8-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Falmouth for a Class A South challenge on Wednesday, May 8. South Portland will battle a Navigators squad coming off a 15-0 league loss to Kennebunk (Kennebunk, ME). The Navigators record now stands at 0-7.

With the loss, Portland falls to 5-2 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Windham (Windham, ME) to battle the Eagles in a Class A South challenge on Tuesday, May 7. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 7-0. Windham won 10-0 in their recent league challenge against Westbrook (Westbrook, ME)
