The Carterville Lions softball team scored 9 runs and limited the visiting Nashville Hornets to 5 in the Lions league triumph on Friday.

With the triumph, Carterville moves its record to 5-3 on the year. The Lions host Sparta (Sparta, IL) to clash with the Bulldogs in a Southern Illinois River-to-River - Mississippi game on Monday, May 10. The Bulldogs come into the game with a record of 1-2. Sparta won 16-14 in their recent league game against DuQuoin (DuQuoin, IL)

In their next game, the Hornets clash with the Freeburg Midgets (Freeburg, IL) in a non-league game, on Saturday, May 8. Nashville will attempt to move on its 5-1 season record. The Midgets come into the game with a 6-2 record after their 5-0 league win over Carlyle (Carlyle, IL).
