Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA), 12-1 in a league challenge.

The Pioneers now own a 11-8 record. They take the field next when they host Grayson County for a Mountain Empire challenge on Thursday, May 9. Fort Chiswell will battle a Blue Devils squad coming off a 12-4 league win over Giles (Pearisburg, VA). The Blue Devils record now stands at 4-12.

With the loss, Bland County falls to 1-12 on the campaign. The Bears travel to Auburn (Riner, VA) to battle the Eagles in a Mountain Empire challenge on Wednesday, May 8. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 10-6. Auburn won 9-7 in their recent league challenge against George Wythe (Wytheville, VA)
