Marion Wildcats (Marion, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Mt. Vernon Rams (Mt. Vernon, IL), 5-0 in a league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 27-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Carterville for a non-league challenge on Friday, May 10. Marion will face a Lions squad coming off a 5-0 non-league win over Nashville (Nashville, IL). The Lions record now stands at 29-1.

With the loss, Mt. Vernon falls to 14-14 on the campaign. The Rams host Carbondale (Carbondale, IL) to face the Terriers in a South Seven challenge on Wednesday, May 8. The Terriers enter the challenge with a record of 12-14. Carbondale won 9-4 in their recent non-league challenge against DuQuoin (DuQuoin, IL)
