Fans at Wednesday's league battle between the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) and the visiting Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA), saw George Wythe's soccer squad hold off Fort Chiswell by a count of 4-3.
The Maroons (9-4) will now prepare for their battle against Auburn (Riner, VA). The Eagles enter the Mountain Empire battle with a 8-3 record. In their last battle, Auburn tipped Grayson County (Independence, VA), 5-1, in a league battle.
Next up, the Pioneers battle the Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA) in a Mountain Empire battle, on Thursday, May 8. Fort Chiswell will attempt to upgrade on its 7-4 season record. The Spartans enter the battle with a 4-7 record after their 3-2 non-league win over Narrows (Narrows, VA).
