Centralia Orphans (Centralia, IL) supporters left the game thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Mt. Vernon Rams (Mt. Vernon, IL), 2-1 in a league game.

With the triumph, Centralia improves its record to 16-2 on the year. The Orphans travel to Belleville East (Belleville, IL) to play the Lancers in a non-league game on Monday, May 12. The Lancers enter the game with a record of 20-5. Belleville East won 6-1 in their recent non-league game against Red Bud (Red Bud, IL)

The Rams now hold a 9-7 record. They play next when they travel to Triad for a non-league game on Friday, May 9. Mt. Vernon will play a Knights squad coming off a 6-5 league win over Highland (Highland, IL). The Knights record now stands at 13-6.
