In Wednesday's league match, the host Newberry Indians softball team scored a tight 15-13 victory over the St. Ignace Saints.
The Indians (2-6) will now prepare for their match against Rudyard (Rudyard, MI). The Bulldogs go into the Straits Area match with a 5-3 record. In their last match, Rudyard tipped Manistique (Manistique, MI), 18-3, in a non-league match.
In their next game, the Saints battle the Manistique Emeralds (Manistique, MI) in a non-league match, on Friday, May 9. St. Ignace will attempt to better on its 4-6 season record. The Emeralds go into the match with a 5-7 record after their 18-3 non-league loss to Rudyard (Rudyard, MI).
