In Wednesday's league test, the Stayton Eagles (Stayton, OR) softball squad overwhelmed the host Newport Cubs (Newport, OR), by a tally of 25-4.
Next, the Eagles clash with the Philomath Warriors (Philomath, OR) in a non-league test, on Thursday, May 8. Stayton will attempt to advance on its 13-6 season record. The Warriors go into the test with a 9-8 record after their 17-7 non-league win over North Marion (Aurora, OR).
The Cubs (3-16) will now prepare for their test against North Marion (Aurora, OR). The Huskies go into the 4A Oregon West test with a 5-11 record. In their last test, North Marion was routed by Cascade (Turner, OR), 11-4, in a league test.
