Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) fans were pleased Monday as they observed their soccer team hold off the visiting Hibriten Panthers (Lenoir, NC), 2-1 in a league challenge.

Next, the Pioneers confront the Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC) in a Northwestern 3A/4A challenge, on Wednesday, May 10. Watauga will attempt to better on its 13-2 season record. The Patriots enter the challenge with a 4-11 record after their 9-0 league loss to Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC).

The Panthers now have a 11-4 record. They take the field next when they host Alexander Central for a Northwestern 3A/4A challenge on Wednesday, May 10. Hibriten will confront a Cougars team coming off a 5-1 league win over South Caldwell (Hudson, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 12-6.
