In Monday's league battle, the visiting Thomas Jefferson Gryphons soccer squad scored a close 2-1 triumph over the Shelby Golden Lions.
The Gryphons (11-3) will now prepare for their battle against Bessemer City (Bessemer City, NC). The Yellow Jackets come into the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A battle with a 2-13 record. In their last battle, Bessemer City was nudged by East Gaston (Mt. Holly, NC), 9-0, in a league battle.
