East Syracuse-Minoa Spartans (East Syracuse, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Syracuse Cougars (Syracuse, NY), 17-2 in a league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 7-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Cortland for a Section 3 Freedom challenge on Wednesday, May 10. East Syracuse-Minoa will battle a Purple Tigers squad coming off a 4-0 non-league loss to Oswego (Oswego, NY). The Purple Tigers record now stands at 5-7.

With the loss, Syracuse falls to 0-8 on the campaign. The Cougars host Jamesville-DeWitt (DeWitt, NY) to battle the Red Rams in a Section 3 Freedom challenge on Friday, May 12. The Red Rams enter the challenge with a record of 9-2. Jamesville-DeWitt lost 5-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Fulton (Fulton, NY)
